Moving from Ideas to Efficient Operations

A great business idea requires strong execution. Week 3 will begin with Business Operations, helping participants understand how to structure and manage the day-to-day activities that keep a business running effectively.

Participants will examine processes, systems, resource management and operational efficiency, with a focus on building businesses that can function consistently and scale without losing control of quality or performance.

Building Financially Sustainable Businesses

The programme will then turn to Pricing Strategy & Financial Planning, equipping entrepreneurs with the knowledge to make better financial decisions.

Participants will explore how to develop appropriate pricing strategies, understand their costs, plan cash flow and use financial information to guide business decisions. The sessions will emphasise the importance of financial discipline to ensure growth translates into a health,d sustainable enterprise.

Understanding and Managing Business Risks

No business operates without risk. Entrepreneurs must be able to identify potential threats, assess their impact and develop strategies to manage them.

Through Managing Business Risks, participants will learn to think proactively about operational, financial, market and other risks that could affect their ventures. The goal is to help founders develop businesses that are not only ambitious, but also prepared to withstand uncertainty and unexpected challenges.

Exploring Funding and Raising Capital

Access to finance remains a major consideration for entrepreneurs seeking to grow their ventures. Week 3 will therefore also cover Funding & Raising Capital.

Participants will gain insights into the different funding options available to businesses and the considerations involved in seeking external capital. They will also explore what makes a venture attractive to potential funders and why a strong business model, sound financials and clear growth strategy are essential when approaching investors or other sources of finance.

Leading Teams and Building for Growth

The final area of focus will be Leadership & Team Building.

As businesses grow, founders must transition from doing everything themselves to building teams capable of delivering the organisation’s vision. Participants will examine effective leadership, team development, delegation, accountability and the importance of creating a strong organisational culture.

By the end of Week 3, participants will have gained a stronger understanding of what it takes to build businesses that are operationally efficient, financially disciplined, risk-aware and capable of sustainable growth.

With each week of the Africa Street MBA Virtual Incubator building on the previous one, participants are moving beyond developing business ideas to understanding how to build, manage, finance and lead ventures for long-term success.

Week 3 is therefore an important milestone in the journey—helping entrepreneurs turn ambition into systems, strategy and sustainable business performance.
