What is Africa Street MBA?

Africa Street MBA (AfSMBA) is an innovative entrepreneurial platform aimed at providing comprehensive support to startups and small businesses in Africa. AfSMBA is an initiative being implemented by DONE BY US in Africa starting with Ghana with support from the KGL Foundation.

Recognising the significant unemployment rate among Africa's youth and the lack of proper business knowledge, AfSMBA seeks to address these challenges by offering capacity building initiatives such as training, coaching, mentorship, business development services, and funding opportunities. The project targets marginalised groups, including persons with disabilities (PWDs), women, and young people from economically disadvantaged backgrounds as well as those with low education, with a focus on the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector.

Bridging the business knowledge gap

Africa Street MBA has been designed to bridge the business knowledge gap and help young people from poor backgrounds, and young people with low education to also have the opportunity to build a world-class enterprise. Beneficiaries of Africa Street MBA will be impacted with world-class business knowledge based on top MBA curriculum and entrepreneurial course content.

OUR PROJECTS

Entrepreneurship Training

The Africa Street MBA (AfSMBA) undertakes year-round entrepreneurship trainings dubbed Entrepreneurship Essentials Master Class in underserved communities. These trainings are designed to be delivered in English and local languages and is intended to bridge the business knowledge gap among the youth. The approach to delivering the trainings is via the Citizen Volunteerism method where our team engages and utilises selected volunteers across all implementing communities. The AfSMBA team organises frequent training of trainers for the volunteers and supply them with continuous educational materials and logistics to aid with the delivering of the training.

Accelerator Programme

The Africa Street MBA (AfSMBA) Accelerator programme is designed to empower the youth to be investment ready. The Accelerator comprises of over 20 business topics delivered by expert management consultants across the world. Beneficiaries go through a comprehensive and intensive 4 weeks or 12 weeks period and they work with mentors and coaches to make them ready. The Accelerator is organised once per year after an extensive regional training exercise by the AfSMBA team. The programme is climaxed with a Pitching and Demonstration Day where selected entrepreneurs pitch their businesses and demonstrate their products or services.
